The ‘Units’ section of the V5 Control Center allows for Units of Measurement (UoM) to be created within the system. V5 Traceability will then use these at various points to perform unit conversion and allow commodities with varying UoMs to be received into the warehouse, be used in formula steps etc. For more information on setting up units and their use throughout the warehouse, click here.
Control Center Overview
The ‘Units’ section can be found under the ‘Setup’ header in Control Center.
This section is made up of 2 panels:
Top (yellow) panel: Units of Measure can be added here and have their conversion rates set.
Bottom (red) panel: Commodities can be added here if they require an additional rate of conversion against a particular unit. For more information on how and where this might be used, check the module guide.
Column Help – Top Panel
Code
Freetext entry to define the UoM. This will be what is displayed throughout the v5 system to define weights of commodities/formulas/products etc. Unit configuration for scales must reflect what is defined here. Contact SG Support if you require assistance with this.
Description
Freetext entry to describe the UoM.
Conversion Rate
The conversion rate of the unit. 1 unit, often the most commonly used UoM by the factory, should be created first and assigned the conversion rate of 1. From here, all other conversion rates of the other units will then calculate from this 1. So, in the screenshot above 1 gram is 0.001 kilograms, 1 gram is 0.0353oz/0.0022lb etc.
Column Help – Bottom Panel
Commodity Code
Allows a commodity to be selected by entering its code or selecting it from the drop-down menu.
Description
Description of the commodity. This is populated once the commodity code is selected and cannot be edited here.
Conversion Rate
The commodity-specific conversion rate. With this example here this would mean that the system would weight 1.1g of salt as 1g.
