Essential Product Knowledge

Summary

THE ‘SPC’ section of V5 Traceability allows for managers and supervisors to schedule Statistical Process Control runs on any commodity in the system.

These runs can then be undertaken by Terminal operators in order to measure the consistency of batch or product production. See the SPC module guide for more information on how to do this.

Control Center Overview

SPC can be found under the ‘Quality’ section of Control Center.

This section is made up of one main panel:

  • Main (yellow) panel: Where SPC runs can be created and scheduled.

Column Help – Main Panel

Commodity Code

Code of the commodity selected for SPC. This can be searched or selected from a drop-down menu.

Description

The description of the commodity, populated from commodity code selection.

Target

Target weight for the selected commodity. If using a batch or product this would usually be the same as the batch size as set in ‘Formulas’.

Lower Tolerance

Sets how far below the target weight is permissible for the commodity during the SPC run. If left blank the Terminal’s default tolerance will be used.

Upper Tolerance

Sets how far above the target weight is permissible for the commodity during the SPC run. If left blank the Terminal’s default tolerance will be used.

Tare

The weight of any packaging or other containers that are with the commodity/product. This value will be deducted from any weights taken during the SPC run.

Units

The Units of Measure in which the product will be weighed. This will initially be the default UoM of the commodity/formula, but can be changed here.

Location

Allows a location to be specified, allowing multiple terminals in different locations to be assigned specific SPC tasks.

Samples

Sets the number of samples that the Terminal operator will be asked to take during the SPC run.

SD Limit

Sets the Standard Deviation limit for the SPC run. If this limit is reached, the run will automatically end.

Image

Allows an image to be uploaded that will be displayed to the Terminal operator if they hit the ‘Info’ button while undertaking a run.. This helps to ensure that the operator is working with the correct commodity/product.

Instructions

Allows a custom message to be added. This will be displayed to the Terminal operator if they hit the ‘Info’ button while undertaking a run.
